No ebike insurance needed!
If you live in New Jersey, you probably know about new law that requires all ebikes to be insured and registered.
The fight between bike coalition and government is not over. However here is small ease we can confirm:
DMV recently made an announcement that bikes under 20 mph with pedal assistant don't require insurance.
We can dismount throttle to comply with new regulations.
However if you decide to go 28 mph, liability insurance from major insurances costs from $100 per year. Or $50 if you intent to use bike 6 months.
We are working on becoming DMV dealer so we'll register bike on your behalf.
In addition, e-scooters and e-trikes that do not excced the speed limit of 20 mph are exempt from the new law.
As an active e-bike cyclist, I can say that I barely touch throttle on my bike while riding. Pedal assistance is more than enough!
Feel free to stop by the shop for e-bike test rides, repairs and rentals! We will also keep you updated about new ebike law. We can't disclose all details but the battle is not over!
